For the past few weeks in JK 2, we have been focusing on animals around the world. One day, while playing on the playground in the morning, we noticed around us we heard birds and saw squirrels. This sighting began a discussion of what animals need to live, what different types of animals look like, where animals live, and names of new and strange animals.
As we began this inquiry project, we first stated what all of our favorite animals were and made a classroom chart to share these facts. We chose different animals each week to draw, learn about, and play with.
Some examples of activities included art pieces, pretending to be animals at PE, dancing to animal songs, making animal noises, learning about where animals live, exploring the difference between wild animals and pets, and many other play-based activities.

The annual TIS Open House will be held tomorrow, Saturday, February 18th.
Information sessions about the elementary and secondary programs will be held in the MPR, followed by guided tours of the campus. The schedule is as follows:
9:00 am: Pre-K to Grade 6 Presentation, followed by Q&A session.
10:00 am: Secondary School Presentation
10:45 am: Secondary School Tour (including Boarding House)
There will also be various activities and performances:
9:00-12:00 noon: Primary musical rehearsal in Room 3080 (South Wing)
9:30-12:00 noon: Painting in Room 4020 (South Wing)
9:30-10:30 am: Drama in the Black Box Theatre (North Wing)
10:45-11:45 am: High school music rehearsal in the Black Box Theatre (North Wing)
9:00-12:00 noon: Art Installations (North Wing)
Families of current TIS students are also welcome to attend Open House and tour the new North Wing! Self guided tours can be taken anytime from 9:45- 12 noon. A handy map can be found here.
